Fire water in Santa Fe RiverCaters TV

Hello! Here’s what’s happening on Friday.

1. US President Donald Trump is expected to announce a new strategy on dealing with Iran on Friday. It’s thought Trump won’t certify a 2015 deal that lifted sanctions once Iran agreed to freeze its nuclear program for 15 years. European countries have been lobbying the US intensively to avoid this outcome.

2. Brexit talks will be delayed after hitting a “deadlock”, says the EU’s chief negotiator. Michel Barnier said he is recommending negotiations be delayed until at least the end of the year because there was “no question” of the EU making concessions on the financial commitments Britain must meet to leave the EU.

3. Trump has announced he is changing a key part of the US healthcare system. Trump is ending the Obamacare cost-sharing reduction (CSR) payments, which provides insurers with subsidies to help lower costs for people with low-incomes. This has the potential to destroy the individual insurance exchanges and send healthcare costs soaring.

4.Palestinian rivals Fatah and Hamas have signed a reconciliation deal. Fatah and Hamas, which control the West Bank and Gaza respectively, began talks led by Egypt eight years after a near-civil war in 2007.

5. California’s wildfires have now killed 31 people. The outbreak has resulted in the state’s deadliest fires in history, with 50,000 people already evacuated their homes.

6. The UAE is the latest country to cut North Korean diplomatic missions after the UN imposed new sanctions last month. The UAE has confirmed it will no longer give visas to North Korean citizens and cut relations with the country’s non-resident ambassador.

7. North Korea has experienced an earthquake thought to be caused by its nuclear tests. A series of tremors occurred on Friday morning near the country’s nuclear test site and experts believe recent testing may have damaged the mountainous area and another test could risk radioactive pollution.

8. Thousands have been evacuated and dozens killed by floods and landslides in Vietnam. A tropical depression, which began on Monday, has flooded 16,000 homes and killed 54 people. The storm is expected to worsen across the next few days.

9. US bank Citi has announced it will set up a private banking hub in Luxembourg after Brexit to mitigate risks. The service will be for Citi’s ultra-high net worth European clients who have more than $25 million in assets, and the decision was made to avoid a “hard Brexit” disrupting the bank’s services.

10. On Friday religious ceremonies across Thailand will mark a year since the death of King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The country has been in an official year of mourning which will end with a five-day funeral ceremony beginning on October 26.

And finally…
