Jeff Immelt reportedly had an empty plane tail him.
Former General Electric CEO Jeff Immelt used to have an empty jet follow him on business trips, according to a published report.
The Wall Street Journal reported that the practice was for some of his trips around the world. The newspaper, citing people familiar with the matter, said that the two jets sometimes parked far apart so they wouldn’t attract attention, and flight crews were told to not openly discuss the empty plane.
A spokeswoman for GE
said the two planes were used “on limited occasions for business-critical or security purposes.”
The story drew a sharp reaction on social media.
