Friday Fly-Fishing Film Festival 11.03.17

Welcome to the latest edition of the Orvis News Friday Fly-Fishing Film Festival, in which we scour the Web for the best fly-fishing videos available. This week, we’ve got fourteen videos that will take you from Alaska to Botswana and from Montana to Slovenia. It’s a mostly trout affair, with a little salmon, exotic warmwater, and tropical salt thrown in for good measure.

For best results, watch all videos at full-screen and in high definition. Remember, we surf so you don’t have to. But if you do stumble upon something great that you think is worthy of inclusion in a future F5, please post it in the comments below, and we’ll take a look.

We kick things off with a fascinating and gorgeous video about fly-fishing in the northern panhandle of Botswana’s Okavango Delta during the legendary catfish run–which drives the tigerfish crazy.

Montana’s Missouri River, from Craig Bridge to Cascade, looks absolutely glorious in this promotional film from Mark Lisk.

Scientific Anglers needs no introduction, but here’s a great video that talks about its recent rebirth, after 70 years, through innovation and passion.

Fly-fishing guide Maddie Brenneman is the star of this video about RV life, but there’s plenty of great fishing action and gorgeous scenery, to boot.

I’m not sure exactly what’s being promoted here, but it ends up being a pretty fine short film about a day of fly fishing, featuring a soundtrack by Gregory Alan Isakov.

I really don’t know anything about this one, but based on the 30-second trailer, “Transitions” is a film to look out for.

Here’s some sweet dry-fly action from New Zealand, featuring small streams, big rivers, and a few that got away.

Anglers flock to Alaska each August for a chance to catch silver salmon, and this video from the Goodnews River shows why.

Germany’s Black Forest doesn’t get a lot of exposure to the North American fly-fishing community, but it sure looks great here.
