Rose McGowan has had her Twitter account locked after accusing Ben Affleck of lying about his knowledge of Harvey Weinstein’s sexual assaults.
In a Thursday Instagram post, the actress and director posted a screenshot of Twitter informing her that she was banned from tweeting, retweeting, or liking posts on the platform for 12 hours unless she removed some of her tweets.
"Twitter has suspended me. There are powerful forces at work," she wrote to her followers. "Be my voice."
A Twitter spokesman told Business Insider that the company doesn’t "comment on individual accounts for privacy and security reasons."
Twitter can suspend accounts if it finds "abusive tweets or behaviour," according to its website. The platform told McGowan she could regain access to her account once she deleted tweets that violated its rules, which prohibit "hateful conduct." It is unclear which tweets the platform was referring to.
On Tuesday, Affleck wrote on Facebook that he was "saddened and angry that a man who [he] worked with used his position of power to intimidate, sexually harass and manipulate many women over decades." He added that the producer’s actions "made [him] sick."
McGowan took none of it. Affleck knew about Weinstein’s behaviour, she told the New York Times, adding that she told the actor about the producer’s previous advances on her.
"’GODDAMNIT! I TOLD HIM TO STOP DOING THAT’ you said that to my face," McGowan tweeted on Tuesday. "You lie."
"Ben Affleck f*** off," she added in a separate post.
McGowan was one of the first women to speak out about Weinstein’s sexual assaults. She has since called on the Weinstein Company’s entire board to resign.
According to the New York Times, Weinstein reached a $100,000 (£75,500) settlement with McGowan after assaulting her in a hotel room during the Sundance Film Festival in 1997. She was 23 at the time.

Shortly after Affleck posted his statement on Weinstein, "One Tree Hill" star Hilarie Burton accused Affleck of groping her breasts during an appearance on MTV in 2003. She was 21 at the time. Affleck has since tweeted an apology for acting "inappropriately."
In a series of graphic tweets on Wednesday, makeup artist Annamarie Tendler also accused Affleck for touching her inappropriately at a Golden Globes party in 2004.
