Finnish Pet Store Creates World’s First Dog Loyalty Program

The Biscuit smart collar is an RFID chip that can recognize when individual dogs enter the store, as well as store their personal information

Musti Group, a Finland-based pet specialty retailer, knows its real customers are the dogs. To show appreciation for their business, the company created the Biscuit smart collar, which also ties into to the world’s first dog loyalty program.

The Biscuit smart collar is equipped with a RFID chip. Once the dog enters the pet supply store, the staff will be given access to its personal data such as name, birthday, shopping history and favorite treat. There is also a monitor by the entrance that will personally greet the dog. The ultimate goal is to give the pooch a five-star in-store experience.

Musti says that, with over 650,000 dogs in Finland, it’s just about time they are treated the customers that they really are. The smart collar will serve as their loyalty cards. Hopefully owners will also be happy with their pets’ special treatment, since they are still required to make actual purchases.
