Former White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus spoke with Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team on Friday as part of the special counsel probe of possible collusion between associates of President Donald Trump and Moscow in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, Priebus’s lawyer said.
William Burck, Priebus’s lawyer, said in a statement Friday that the former chief of staff had “voluntarily interviewed” with Mueller’s team on Friday. “He was happy to answer all of their questions,” Burck said.
The special counsel informed the White House last month that he would seek to interview several top administration aides, including Priebus, former press secretary Sean Spicer and communications director Hope Hicks. Mueller may also seek to interview White House counsel Don McGahn and one of his deputies.
A spokesman for the special counsel declined to comment. The White House didn’t immediately return a request for comment.
