In 1905, Little Bear Lake in the San Bernardino Mountains, began its slow rise behind a new dam being built to create a massive irrigation project for the farmlands of the San Bernardino Valley. As the tiny pond grew into a lake, fishermen from across Southern California began to swarm the trout-filled waters.
