The recreational ocean salmon fishing season opened on June 17. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has announced that this year’s season will be shorter, ending in Sept., due to poor salmon runs in previous years, and the daily bag count will be two Chinook salmon per day. Any changes made to the fishing regulations will be announced through the National Marine Fisheries Service Ocean Salmon Hotline at 662-9825.
