Fishing Derby fills town lake

Excitement rippled through the crowd with every fish reeled in during the fishing tourney sponsored by the Buena Vista Optimists, Collegiate Peaks Chapter of Trout Unlimited and Colorado Parks and Wildlife, which stocked 250 fish in Town Lake. From left, the 2018 Kids Fishing Derby prize winners are Kiera Bennets for longest fish caught by a girl, Cooper Gonzales for longest fish caught by a boy, Hazel Cipar, first girl to catch a fish; Dawson Hay, first boy to catch a fish and Nathan Campbell, the youngest fisherman at the derby.
