Friday Fly-Fishing Film Festival 10.20.17

Welcome to the latest edition of the Orvis News Friday Fly-Fishing Film Festival, in which we scour the Web for the best fly-fishing videos available. This week, we’ve got eleven beautiful videos from both home and abroad: from New Zealand to Bavaria, from Montauk to Paradise Valley, from Bolivia to New Hampshire.

For best results, watch all videos at full-screen and in high definition. Remember, we surf so you don’t have to. But if you do stumble upon something great that you think is worthy of inclusion in a future F5, please post it in the comments below, and we’ll take a look.

We kick things off with a dreamy little montage from Argentina’s Southern Patagonia, featuring all the spectacular views and fish the area has to offer.

The fabled Northeastern saltwater Mecca at Montauk is the scene for this cool video about chasing false albacore and striped bass on the fly during the fall blitz.

Having guided in Paradise Valley, I love seeing these waters through the lens of another angler. There are some lovely browns, and even Mr. Whitey makes an appearance.

The trout season in New Zealand kicked off on October first, and Matt Butler of Traveltruly shares scenes from his first days on the water.

September is the Russian Far East looks pretty spectacular in this film from Tight Loop Media–big trout and char, coupled with classic Aerosmith. Who could ask for anything more?

New Hampshire’s Great North Woods–and especially the Upper Connecticut River–are the scene for this fun family fly-fishing trip. Some big, beautiful brookies are on display, too.

I never get tired of watching packs of golden dorado herd baitfish, chase down streamers, and take to the air. This is a bucket-list fish to be sure.

Our pal Ken Tanaka went to Iceland and all he got were these stunning arctic char.

The Danica Dudes are usually chasing trout on top, but here they’re after pike on the Regen River in Bavaria.

This video is long–at almost 10 minutes–but it’s a surprisingly engrossing tale of a trip to New Zealand that offers both the agony and the ecstasy (but mostly the agony) of trying to catch huge trout. Some cursing here, especially if you speak Danish.
